Red Sangria

3 bottles Spanish Garnacha – (or other non-tannic Spanish red wine)

1 cup Brandy

1 cup Triple Sec, Cointreau or Grand Marnier

1 cup sugar

1/2 gallon Orange juice

chunks of fruit such as peaches or plums –

Mix all the ingredients together and let sit for a few hours.

Summer Fruit Sangria

Serves 8

6 cups assorted fruits (such as mango, pineapple, cantaloupe, and apricot), sliced or cut into chunks

1/4 cup thinly sliced peeled fresh ginger

1 to 1 1/2 cups fresh basil or mint leaves

1/2 cup orange liqueur, such as Cointreau

1 bottle crisp white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (from 1 lemon)

In a large bowl or pitcher, combine fruit, ginger, basil or mint, and orange liqueur. Mash gently with the back of a wooden spoon until basil is bruised and fruit releases juices. Add wine and lemon juice and stir to combine. Refrigerate 1 hour. To serve, fill eight glasses with ice and top with sangria.

White Sangria

Serves 8

1/4 cup Brandy

1/2 cup Orange juice

2 firm ripe peaches, sliced

1/2 honeydew melon, cut in cubes

1 bottle white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio

1 can (12 ounces) or (1 1/2 cups) seltzer or club soda

In a large bowl or pitcher combine brandy and sugar. Let stand 5 minutes; stir to dissolve sugar. Add fruit, oj and wine to brandy mixture; stir. Just before serving, add seltzer, and stir again. Serve over ice.

 

Sage Margarita

Sage Margarita

Serves 4

1 cup  tequila

2/3 cup  fresh lime juice (from 4 to 6 limes)

1/3 cup Triple Sec, Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Orange juice

2 teaspoons Agave nectar or simple syrup

1 lime, sliced

4-6 Sage leaves

kosher salt (optional)

In a medium pitcher, muddle sage leaves and combine the tequila, lime juice, Triple Sec, and sweetener. If desired, rub the rims of 4 glasses with a lime slice and dip in salt to coat. Fill glass with ice and pour cocktail over. Garnish with lime slices.
